Who are we?
From Where?

A brief history…

  • 1857, March – Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy School of Art started at the Elphinstone Institution.
  • 1866 – GOI takes over management.
  • 1878 – School moved to its current campus.
  • 1900 – School offered its first course in architecture.
  • 1913 – Independent Department of Architecture formed.
  • 1946 – Commercial Art Section(CAS) started.
  • 1952 – Sir J. J. College of Architecture affiliated to University of Mumbai.
  • 1958 – Sir J. J. School of Art, Sir J. J. College of Architecture and Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art started working independently.
  • 1961 – Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art awarded independent institute status.
  • 1965, June – Directorate of Art, Maharashtra established.
  • 1981 – School of Art and Institute of Applied Art affiliated with the University of Mumbai.
  • 1998-99 – The 12+4 course pattern implemented to replace 10+5.
  • 2023 Oct – Sir J.J. School of Art, Architecture, and Design recognised as a De-novo Deemed University.
  • 2024 – ekJJ Alumni Association registered.

Association’s Objectives

  1. To reclaim the lost glory of our campus.
  2. Ensure the quality of education being imparted is up to global standards.
  3. Cooperate with the academic council in policy making.
  4. Get tie-ups with international institutions, universities, associations and professional bodies.
  5. Help raise funds for educational, cultural and other activities at JJ.
  6. Get scholarships, financial and educational aid for deserving students.
  7. Help students and alumni connect and create better opportunities in education, jobs, businesses.
  8. Help deserving students and alumni financially.
  9. Celebrate social events together.

संघटनेची उद्दिष्टे

  1. आपल्या जे. जे. ला पुन्हा उर्जितावस्था प्राप्त करून देणे.
  2. शैक्षणिक पातळी उच्च दर्जाची आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर नेणे.
  3. जे. जे. च्या विद्यापीठीय शैक्षणिक समित्यांना धोरण आणण्याच्या व राबविण्याच्या कार्यात सहकार्य करणे.
  4. आंतरराष्ट्रीय कला संस्था, विद्यापीठे, व्यावसायिक संयोजना अथवा व्यक्तींशी जेजे हितार्थ आदानप्रदान करणे.
  5. जेजेतील शैक्षणिक, सांस्कृतिक, अथवा अन्य कार्यासाठी साठी निधी उभारणे.
  6. सत्पात्र विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी शिष्यवृत्त्या, आर्थिक व शैक्षणिक सहाय्य उपलब्ध करणे.
  7. आजी माजी विद्यार्थ्यांच्या शैक्षणिक, व्यावसायिक तसेच उपजिविकेच्या कल्याणार्थ सहकार्य करणे.
  8. गरजु व सत्पात्र माजी विद्याथ्यींना आर्थिक साहाय्य करणे.
  9. सांस्कृतिक, सामाजिक कार्यक्रम करणे.
